Similarly the riot gun was completely replaced with a grenade launcher, which I unfortunately did not find on my first playthrough, so I can’t comment on it. I miss the dart gun and the sound it makes, but the tranq rounds were nearly worthless and the needles were only good for 1 or 2 levels. Other weapons were completely rebalanced, removed, or added whole cloth. Some stuff is okay, stuff like the sparq and other energy guns having a low energy and high energy charge mode feels less Immersive Sim-like than picking a value on a slider, but I’m not opposed to a streamlining of the process. Of course, hacking uses up some energy, and it doesn’t work on alerted enemies, so you have to use stealth and good resource management to get the “free” kills. Of course, if you want to just go ham on an helpless enemy and rapier them to death, the higher level target identifier now hacks enemies, making for an easy kill. Enemies similarly put up a good fight being given melee attacks and high turn speeds which similarly makes the laser rapier the high risk high reward it’s supposed to be. Graphics look nice and the game doesn’t control like a point and click game (though I kinda like the point and click controls, but that’s mostly nostalgia, I think.)Ĭombat has received a huge update, enemies are just as threatening as they are supposed to be, Cortex Reavers and Diego no longer go down with just a few swings of the laser rapier (unless you use the emp grenade and a berserk patch, though they’re both pretty mobile which makes grenading them hard). Overall, I would say that the game is for the most part the original but better. (technically i finished 2 days ago, but some stuff made this post slow to write)
